      Album Details

Immerse yourself in the profound and spiritual journey of "Elgar: The Dream of Gerontius" by Richard Lewis. This captivating album, released on November 22, 2012, under the Past Classics label, is a masterful choral and requiem work that brings to life Edward Elgar's iconic composition, Op. 38. Spanning a duration of 1 hour and 34 minutes, this two-part album is a testament to the power of music to convey deep emotional and spiritual experiences.

Richard Lewis, a renowned tenor, takes the lead in this compelling narrative that follows the soul of a devout man from his deathbed to his judgment before God and ultimately to Purgatory. The album features the exceptional talents of Janet Baker, a mezzo-soprano, and Kim Borg, a bass, who join Lewis in delivering a performance that is both haunting and beautiful.

The Dream of Gerontius is not just a musical piece; it is a profound exploration of faith, mortality, and the afterlife. Elgar's composition is brought to life with the Hallé Orchestra and Choir, along with the Ambrosian Singers, creating a rich and immersive soundscape that will leave you deeply moved.
