Immerse yourself in the captivating world of Pina Napolitano's "Elegy," a remarkable album that showcases her extraordinary talent as a pianist and her deep connection with the works of Arnold Schoenberg, Béla Bartók, and Ernst Krenek. Released on October 14, 2016, under Odradek Records, this album is a testament to Napolitano's artistic prowess and her ability to bring to life the intricate compositions of these esteemed composers.

"Elegy" is a journey through a diverse range of musical styles and emotions, spanning a total duration of 1 hour and 14 minutes. The album opens with Arnold Schoenberg's Concerto for Piano and Orchestra, Op. 42, a four-movement masterpiece that highlights Napolitano's technical skill and expressive depth. The concerto is followed by Schoenberg's "Begleitungsmusik zu einer Lichtspielscene, Op. 34," a dramatic and atmospheric piece that showcases the Liepāja Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Atvars Lakstigala.

The second half of the album is dedicated to the works of Béla Bartók and Ernst Krenek. Bartók's Piano Concerto No. 3, Sz. 119, BB 127, is a three-movement work that demonstrates Napolitano's ability to navigate the complex rhythms and harmonies of Bartók's music. The album concludes with Ernst Krenek's "Symphonic Elegy for String Orchestra, Op. 105," a hauntingly beautiful piece that showcases the Liepāja Symphony Orchestra's exceptional musicianship.

Throughout "Elegy," Pina Napolitano's playing is characterized by its precision, sensitivity, and emotional depth. Her interpretations of these challenging works are both insightful and deeply moving, making this album a must-listen for anyone interested in contemporary classical music.
