      Album Details

Immerse yourself in the captivating world of Franco-Lebanese composer Bechara El-Khoury with his compelling album "El-Khoury: Concerti for Violin, Horn & Clarinet (Live)." Released in 2014 under the prestigious Naxos label, this album showcases three stunning concertos, each a testament to El-Khoury's unique musical vision and deep connection to his native Lebanon.

The album opens with the Violin Concerto No. 1, Op. 62, "Aux frontières de nulle part" (On the Borders of Nowhere), a piece that pays homage to Alban Berg and features a virtuosic cadenza for the soloist. The concerto's evocative title and intricate composition draw the audience into a world of mystery and lyricism.

Next, the Horn Concerto, Op. 74, "The Dark Mountain," transports you to the natural landscapes of Lebanon. El-Khoury describes this powerful piece as mountains at night, reaching up into the sky and melting into mist and space. The concerto's dramatic and energetic movements are a testament to the composer's ability to paint vivid images with sound.

The album concludes with the Clarinet Concerto, Op. 78, "Autumn Pictures," a work inspired by the poetic colors and impressions of the autumn season. This concerto is a beautiful exploration of recollection and atmosphere, showcasing the clarinet's expressive range.

Performed by an ensemble of exceptional musicians, including Sarah Nemtanu on violin, David Guerrier on horn, and Patrick Messina on clarinet, and conducted by Kurt Masur, Jean-Claude Casadesus, and Olari Elts, this live recording captures the energy and passion of these remarkable performances. The Orchestre National de France and the Orchestre de Chambre de Paris provide a rich and dynamic backdrop, bringing El-Khoury's compositions to life with precision and artistry.

With a total duration of 1 hour and 13 minutes, this album is a journey through the diverse and rich musical landscape of Bechara El-Khoury. Whether you are a longtime fan of classical music or a newcomer looking to explore the genre, this album offers a compelling and engaging listening experience that highlights the beauty and depth of El-Khoury's work.
