      Klaus Mertens, born in 1949 in Kleve, Germany, is a renowned bass and bass-baritone singer celebrated for his profound interpretations of Baroque music, particularly the works of Johann Sebastian Bach. Mertens is the only vocalist to have recorded the complete Bach cantatas, a monumental achievement accomplished with the Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra and Choir under the direction of Ton Koopman.
