      Album Details

Immerse yourself in the captivating world of Jan Ladislav Dussek, a Bohemian-born composer who captivated Europe with his innovative and daring piano music. Spanning a total of 1 hour and 16 minutes, the album offers a rich and diverse listening experience, highlighting Dussek's harmonic sophistication and idiomatic keyboard fluency.

The album features three sonatas, each with its own unique character and charm. The Piano Sonata No. 26 in A-Flat Major, Op. 64, known as "Le retour à Paris," is a four-movement work that begins with a lively and expressive Allegro non troppo. The second movement, Molto adagio con anima ed espressione, is a deeply moving and introspective piece, while the third movement, Tempo di minuetto, offers a delightful contrast with its playful and elegant melody. The final movement, Scherzo. Allegro con spirito, brings the sonata to a thrilling conclusion.

The Piano Sonata No. 24 in F-Sharp Minor, Op. 61, titled "Élégie harmonique," is a two-movement work that begins with a somber and pathetic Lento patetico, followed by a fiery and passionate Tempo vivace e con fuoco quasi presto.

The Piano Sonata No. 18 in E-Flat Major, Op. 44, known as "The Farewell," is a four-movement work that begins with a grave and solemn Introduzione, followed by an Allegro moderato. The third movement, Molto adagio e sostenuto, is a deeply expressive and lyrical piece, while the final movement, Rondo. Allegro moderato ed espressivo, brings the sonata to a triumphant and joyful conclusion.

This album is a testament to Dussek's enduring legacy and the timeless beauty of his music. Whether you are a seasoned classical music enthusiast or a newcomer to the genre, this album is sure to delight and inspire you.
