      Donnacha Dennehy's "Land of Winter" is a captivating orchestral journey through the seasons, released on November 15, 2024, under Nonesuch Records. This 55-minute composition, performed by the acclaimed Alarm Will Sound and conducted by Alan Pierson, is a poetic exploration of Ireland's dramatic seasonal shifts. Each of the twelve tracks represents a month, from December to November, offering a unique musical portrait of the landscape and atmosphere of the "Land of Winter."

      The album was recorded in October 2023 and premiered at the Beethovenfest in Bonn on September 14, 2024. It's a testament to Dennehy's mastery of orchestral composition, blending traditional Irish influences with contemporary classical music. The piece will also be brought to the stage for its New York City premiere at the Irish Arts Center on December 11 and 12.

      About Donnacha Dennehy

      Donnacha Dennehy is a renowned Irish composer and artistic director of Dublin's Crash Ensemble, celebrated for his contemporary classical music. Born on August 17, 1970, in Dublin, Dennehy has made a significant impact on the international music scene with his rhythmically intense and sonically rich compositions. His collaborations with playwright Enda Walsh have resulted in a critically acclaimed trilogy of operas, including "The Last Hotel," "The Second Violinist," and "The First Child." Dennehy's work has been featured in prestigious festivals and venues worldwide, and his music is published by G. Schirmer in New York. Currently residing in America, he serves as a professor at Princeton University, where he also directs the Princeton Sound Kitchen. Dennehy's compositions, such as "The Hunger," delve into profound themes, offering listeners a deep and engaging musical experience.
