      Album Details

"Do It Now" is a vibrant and dynamic album by the legendary organist Brother Jack McDuff, released in January 1967 under the Rhino Atlantic label. This album marks McDuff's third release on Atlantic and is a testament to his mastery of soul jazz, jazz funk, hard bop, and acid jazz. Recorded between December 1966 and May 1967 in New York, NY, the album features a stellar lineup of musicians, including the renowned guitarist Melvin Sparks, adding a rich, funky texture to the tracks.

With a runtime of 39 minutes, "Do It Now" is a compact yet powerful collection of seven tracks that showcase McDuff's signature soulful and energetic playing style. The album opens with the title track "Do It Now," setting the tone for an infectious and groovy journey through jazz and funk. Standout tracks like "Summer Samba (Samba de Verao)" and "Stroling Blues" highlight McDuff's ability to blend various musical influences seamlessly, creating a sound that is both timeless and innovative.

"Pleasant Moments" offers a more relaxed and melodic interlude, while "Mutt & Jeff" brings back the high-energy vibe that defines much of the album. Each track is a testament to McDuff's ability to bring heart and soul to every tune he recorded, making "Do It Now" a standout release in his discography.

For fans of soul jazz and funk, this album is a treasure trove of rich, soulful music that continues to resonate with audiences today. Whether you're a longtime admirer of Jack McDuff or a newcomer to his work, "Do It Now" is an essential addition to any jazz enthusiast's collection.
