      Album Details

Immerse yourself in the captivating world of chamber music with Dimitri Ashkenazy's "Live at the Klassik Musikfest Mühlviertel." Recorded on July 1, 2011, this album is a testament to Ashkenazy's virtuosity and his deep connection with the repertoire. Spanning over two hours, the album features a diverse collection of works, showcasing Ashkenazy's mastery of the clarinet and his ability to collaborate seamlessly with other instrumentalists.

The album opens with Franz Schubert's "Der Hirt auf dem Felsen," a romantic piece that sets the tone for the rest of the performance. Ashkenazy then delves into the rich world of trios, with works by Johannes Brahms, Carl Reinecke, and Johannes Brahms again, each piece revealing a different facet of his artistry. The album also includes Johannes Brahms' Sonata for Clarinet and Piano, a work that highlights Ashkenazy's lyrical and expressive playing.

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's "Kegelstatt" Trio and the Clarinet Quintet in A Major, K. 581, are the crowning jewels of this collection. These works demonstrate Ashkenazy's technical prowess and his ability to convey the full range of emotions encapsulated in these masterpieces.

Throughout the album, Ashkenazy's playing is characterized by its warmth, clarity, and precision. His interpretations are both respectful of the composers' intentions and infused with his own unique musical personality. Whether you're a seasoned chamber music enthusiast or a newcomer to the genre, Dimitri Ashkenazy's "Live at the Klassik Musikfest Mühlviertel" is an album that will enrich your musical journey.
