This captivating album, released on September 9, 2009, under Meridian Records, is a testament to Delius's mastery of the violin and piano duo. The album begins with the Violin Sonata No.1, RT viii/6, followed by the Violin Sonata No.2, RT viii/9, and culminates with the Violin Sonata No. 3. Each sonata is a journey in itself, revealing Delius's unique ability to blend technical prowess with deep emotional expression. The Sonata in B Major, with its lively Allegro con brio and serene Andante molto tranquillo, is a highlight of the collection.

Beyond the sonatas, the album offers a variety of pieces that demonstrate Delius's versatility. The Légende in E-Flat Major and the Romance are particularly noteworthy, with the latter being the first-ever recording of this early work. Whether you are a longtime fan of Delius or a newcomer to his music, this album is a treasure trove of beautiful melodies and intricate compositions that will leave you spellbound.

      About Frederick Delius

Frederick Delius, born into a wealthy mercantile family in Bradford, England, was a composer who defied conventional paths. Rather than following his family's wishes to enter the world of commerce, Delius pursued his passion for music. In 1884, he was sent to Florida to manage an orange plantation, but his heart was not in the business. Instead, he immersed himself in the local music and culture, which significantly influenced his compositions. Returning to Europe in 1886, Delius dedicated himself to his true calling, creating a body of work that reflects his unique experiences and artistic vision.
