      Album Details

Immerse yourself in the enchanting world of Frederick Delius with his complete collection of violin sonatas, a captivating journey through the composer's lesser-known yet profoundly expressive works. Released on June 30, 2009, by Naxos, this album spans a little over an hour and sixteen minutes, offering a rich tapestry of musical emotion and technical brilliance.

The album features nine tracks, including the Violin Sonata in B Major, Op. Posth., and three distinct violin sonatas, each showcasing Delius's unique ability to blend exuberance with nostalgic rapture. The Violin Sonata No. 3, in particular, is a standout piece, performed with exquisite skill by Susanne Stanzeleit and Gusztav Fenyo.

Delius's violin sonatas are a testament to his mastery of the form, revealing a depth of feeling and a lyrical richness that have made his orchestral works so beloved. This collection is a must-listen for anyone interested in the romantic and impressionistic styles of the early 20th century.

Whether you're a seasoned classical music enthusiast or a newcomer to Delius's work, this album offers a compelling introduction to the composer's genius. The performances are impeccable, capturing the essence of Delius's music with sensitivity and precision. Don't miss the chance to explore the hidden treasures of Frederick Delius's violin sonatas.

      About Frederick Delius

Frederick Delius, born into a wealthy mercantile family in Bradford, England, was a composer who defied conventional paths. Rather than following his family's wishes to enter the world of commerce, Delius pursued his passion for music. In 1884, he was sent to Florida to manage an orange plantation, but his heart was not in the business. Instead, he immersed himself in the local music and culture, which significantly influenced his compositions. Returning to Europe in 1886, Delius dedicated himself to his true calling, creating a body of work that reflects his unique experiences and artistic vision.
