      Album Details

Immerse yourself in the enchanting world of French impressionist music with Robin Ticciati and the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin's captivating album, "Debussy: La mer & Ariettes oubliées." This exquisite collection, released on Linn Records in 2017, showcases the orchestral prowess and artistic vision of Ticciati, who commenced his tenure with the DSO at the beginning of the 2017-2018 season.

The album is a harmonious blend of Claude Debussy's iconic orchestral work "La mer," a vivid and evocative depiction of the sea, and Gabriel Fauré's hauntingly beautiful "Pelléas et Mélisande," arranged for orchestra by Charles Koechlin. Additionally, it features the premiere recording of Brett Dean's orchestral arrangements of Fauré's "Ariettes oubliées," sung by the mesmerizing mezzo-soprano Magdalena Kozena.

With a total runtime of 68 minutes, the album comprises 14 tracks that seamlessly weave together, creating a tapestry of sound that is both soothing and stirring. From the gentle ebb and flow of "De l'aube à midi sur la mer" to the poignant melodies of "Il pleure dans mon cœur," each piece is a testament to the composers' genius and Ticciati's masterful direction.

Whether you're a seasoned classical music enthusiast or a newcomer to the genre, this album offers a rich and rewarding listening experience that highlights the timeless appeal of French impressionist music.
