      Album Details

"de Saram in Concert, Vol. 1" is a captivating chamber music album featuring the extraordinary talent of cellist Rohan De Saram, released in 1999 under the Claudio Records label. This album is a testament to De Saram's mastery of the cello, showcasing his technical prowess and emotional depth through a collection of nine exquisite pieces.

The album opens with the powerful "Sonata for Cello, Op. 8" by Camille Saint-Saëns, featuring three movements that range from the passionate "Allegro maestoso ma appassionato" to the lively "Allegro molto vivace." De Saram's performance is both dynamic and nuanced, bringing out the rich textures and complexities of the composition.

Following this, the album presents the "Sonata in G Minor, Op. 19" by Gabriel Fauré, a work that highlights De Saram's ability to convey a wide range of emotions. The sonata's four movements, from the introspective "Lento - Allegro moderato" to the spirited "Allegro mosso," are performed with a sensitivity and precision that captivate the listener.

The album also includes a beautiful rendition of "Goyescas: Intermezzo" by Enrique Granados, showcasing De Saram's ability to evoke the romantic and melancholic moods of the piece. The album concludes with a thrilling performance of "The Flight of the Bumblebee" by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov, a virtuosic display that leaves a lasting impression.

Throughout the album, De Saram is accompanied by the equally talented Druvi de Saram, adding an extra layer of depth and harmony to the performances. The chemistry between the two artists is palpable, making this album a truly immersive listening experience.

With a duration of 1 hour and 15 minutes, "de Saram in Concert, Vol. 1" is a rich and varied collection that offers a comprehensive showcase of Rohan De Saram's artistry. Whether you are a seasoned classical music enthusiast or a newcomer to the genre, this album is sure to impress and delight.
