      Album Details

Immerse yourself in the resplendent world of French Baroque music with Jean-François Dandrieu's "Magnificats." Released on November 15, 2019, under the prestigious Château de Versailles Spectacles label, this album is a testament to Dandrieu's mastery as the King's Organist during the height of his career. Spanning a captivating 70 minutes, the album features a collection of Magnificats, Noël pieces, and other liturgical works that showcase Dandrieu's virtuosic compositional skills and deep spiritual insight.

The album opens with the Magnificat du premier ton in D Minor, a six-movement work that sets the tone for the rest of the recording. Each movement is distinct, ranging from the solemn "Plein jeu. Gravement" to the lively "Dialogue. Gravement." The Magnificat du deuxième ton in G Minor and the Magnificat du huitième ton in G Major follow, each offering a unique exploration of the Magnificat text through Dandrieu's inventive use of the organ's timbres and registration.

In addition to the Magnificats, the album includes several Noël pieces, such as "À la venue de Noël" and "Bon Joseph écoutez-moi," which capture the festive spirit of the Christmas season. The album also features the Offertoire pour le jour de Pâques, a stunning piece that celebrates the joy of Easter.

Performed on the magnificent 1710 organ in the Chapelle Royale at Versailles, this recording is a feast for the ears and a tribute to the rich musical heritage of the French Baroque. Whether you're a seasoned classical music enthusiast or a newcomer to the genre, "Magnificats" is an album that will transport you to a world of timeless beauty and spiritual depth.
