      John Corigliano, born in 1938 in New York City, is a renowned American composer whose eclectic influences have shaped a body of work that is both accessible and deeply expressive. With over 100 compositions to his name, Corigliano's music spans a wide range of styles and emotions, earning him prestigious awards including the Pulitzer Prize, the Grawemeyer Award, five Grammy Awards, and an Academy Award. His notable works include the evocative score for the film "The Red Violin" and a series of pieces inspired by Bob Dylan's songs, such as "Prelude: Mr. Tambourine Man" and "All Along The Watchtower." Corigliano's musical journey is rooted in his family's rich musical heritage, with his father being a prominent violinist. Today, he continues to inspire new generations as a distinguished professor at The Juilliard School and Lehman College.
