      Album Details

"Colour Division," released on October 8, 2013, is a captivating sonic journey crafted by the duo Ian Boddy and Markus Reuter. This album, a product of their enduring collaboration, is a testament to their mastery in sculpting ambient and experimental soundscapes. The seven-track collection spans 52 minutes, offering a rich tapestry of space music, krautrock, ambient, new age, dark ambient, and drone elements.

The album is a result of meticulous composition, performance, and production by Boddy and Reuter, with the tracks conceived and realized between December 2012 and April 2013, and mixed in May 2013. The duo's synergy is evident in the seamless blend of colorful guitar and synth drones, creating beatless, half-melodic soundscapes that envelop the listener in a serene yet intriguing atmosphere.

"Colour Division" is the fifth chapter in the duo's collaborative discography, showcasing their evolution and deepening connection as musical partners. The album's title is reflected in the vivid sonic landscapes that unfold across tracks like "Borderlands," "Fulcrum," and "Beacon," each offering a unique auditory experience while maintaining a cohesive thematic flow.

The album's release on the DiN label further underscores its place within the broader context of experimental electronic music. "Colour Division" is not just an album; it's an exploration of sound and space, a collaboration between two of the genre's most respected architects. Whether you're a longtime fan of Boddy and Reuter or a newcomer to their work, "Colour Division" promises an immersive and rewarding listening experience.

      About Ian Boddy

Ian Boddy, a pioneering figure in the British electronic music scene, has been crafting immersive sonic landscapes since the early 1980s. Born in Newcastle upon Tyne, Boddy's journey began with a degree in Biochemistry, but his passion for the electronic soundscapes of bands like Tangerine Dream led him to explore the world of analogue synthesis and tape manipulation. His early works, released on the Mirage label, laid the foundation for a prolific career that spans ambient, new age, and space music genres.

Boddy's discography is vast and varied, with notable albums like "The Climb," "Spirits," and "Phoenix" marking his early years. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to found the Something Else Records label, where he released several solo albums and collaborations, including works with Andy Pickford and Ron Boots. In 1999, he established DiN Records, a label dedicated to bridging the gap between the analogue sounds of the 1970s and the digital experimentation of modern electronic music.

As a composer and sound designer, Boddy's work extends beyond his solo albums. He has composed library music for TV, films, and documentaries, bringing a cinematic quality to his compositions. His live performances, often featuring modular synth patches, showcase his mastery of analogue synthesizers. With a career that spans over four decades, Ian Boddy continues to be a key figure in the electronic music movement, constantly pushing the boundaries of sound and innovation.
