Nicknamed "Gringo" as a child due to his fair skin, he adopted the artistic name "Guinga," a playful twist on his childhood moniker. Guinga's journey in music began at the age of 13 when he picked up the violão, teaching himself the intricacies of the instrument before delving into classical guitar studies. His compositions blend the rich tapestry of Brazilian jazz, bossa nova, and MPB, creating a unique sound that resonates with audiences worldwide.
