      Album Details

Immerse yourself in the timeless elegance of classical piano with Dinu Lipatti's "Chopin/Liszt/Ravel/Brahms/Enescu: Piano Recital." This 1989 release from Warner Classics is a masterful collection of works by some of the most celebrated composers in classical music history. Spanning a little over an hour, this album offers a rich tapestry of musical brilliance, showcasing Lipatti's unparalleled virtuosity and deep emotional resonance.

The album begins with Chopin's monumental Piano Sonata No. 3 in B Minor, Op. 58, a piece that demands both technical prowess and profound interpretive insight. Lipatti's performance is nothing short of transcendent, capturing the sonata's dramatic intensity and lyrical beauty. The program continues with Liszt's "Années de pèlerinage II," Ravel's "Miroirs," and Brahms' "16 Waltzes, Op. 39," each piece rendered with Lipatti's signature clarity and expressive depth.

Enescu's Piano Sonata No. 3 in D Major, Op. 24 No. 3 rounds out the collection, offering a glimpse into the lesser-known but equally captivating works of this Romanian composer. Lipatti's interpretation is marked by a delicate balance of precision and passion, making this a standout performance.

Recorded with impeccable sound quality, this album is a testament to Lipatti's enduring legacy as one of the greatest pianists of the 20th century. Whether you're a seasoned classical enthusiast or a newcomer to the genre, this album is a treasure trove of musical excellence that will leave you spellbound.

      About Dinu Lipatti

Dinu Lipatti, born in Bucharest in 1917, was a Romanian classical pianist and composer whose meteoric career was tragically cut short by Hodgkin's disease at the age of 33. Despite his brief life, Lipatti's legacy endures, thanks to his remarkable recorded output, which has earned him a unique place among the greats of the piano. His performances are celebrated for their profound musicality and technical brilliance, offering listeners a glimpse into the golden age of piano playing. Lipatti's compositions, though few in number, reflect the strong influence of Hungarian composer Béla Bartók. His enduring impact is further honored through competitions and recordings that continue to inspire new generations of musicians and enthusiasts alike.
