      Album Details

"Chaconne - Ida Haendel Violin Recital" is a captivating album released by the renowned violinist Ida Haendel in 2009. This exquisite collection of nine tracks showcases Haendel's virtuosity and deep musical insight, recorded when she was 80 years old. The album spans a diverse range of compositions, from Camille Saint-Saëns' "Introduction et Rondo Capriccioso, Op.28" and "Symphonie Espagnole Op.21: III. Intermezzo" to Johannes Brahms' "Hungarian Dance No. 1" and Henryk Wieniawski's "Polonaise de Concert No. 1 in D major, Op.4". A standout piece is Bach's "Chaconne" from the Partita for Unaccompanied Violin No.2 in D minor, BWV 1004, demonstrating Haendel's mastery of Baroque repertoire. The album also includes three movements from Mozart's Violin Sonata No.34 in E-flat major, KV 378/317d, and the lively "Tzigane" by Maurice Ravel. Each piece is performed with Haendel's signature elegance and technical brilliance, offering a rich and varied listening experience. The album, released under the RCA Red Seal label, is a testament to Haendel's enduring legacy as one of the most celebrated violinists of the 20th century.
