      Marilyn Mazur is a dynamic force in the world of jazz percussion, blending her American roots with her Danish home to create a unique and captivating sound. With a career spanning over five decades, Mazur has established herself as a master percussionist, composer, and bandleader, known for her innovative approach and powerful performances. She is an autodidact who honed her skills with a degree from the Royal Danish Academy of Music and has collaborated with jazz legends such as Miles Davis, Gil Evans, and Wayne Shorter. Mazur founded the groundbreaking all-female music-theater ensemble Primi Band in 1978, and later, the modern tribal gathering Shamania, showcasing her ability to draw from a deep well of primal energy and create music that is both bold and innovative. Her work is a testament to her versatility and her ability to push the boundaries of jazz, making her a true pioneer in the genre.
