      Album Details

James Primosch's "Carthage" is a captivating exploration of minimalism and chamber music, released in 2020 under the Navona label. This album features six striking compositions performed by the renowned GRAMMY-winning choir The Crossing, led by artistic director Donald Nally. Primosch, a prolific composer and winner of the 2020 Virgil Thomson Award for Vocal Music from The American Academy of Arts and Letters, delivers a contemplative and virtuosic collection that demands attention.

The album spans 53 minutes, encompassing a mix of choral works and solo pieces that showcase Primosch's unique compositional voice. Highlights include the five-part "Mass for the Day of St. Thomas Didymus," which offers a modern take on traditional liturgical music, and the evocative "Journey" and "Spiralling Ecstatically." Each track is a testament to Primosch's ability to craft intricate, layered compositions that resonate deeply with the listener.

"Carthage" follows Primosch's 2020 GRAMMY-nominated album "The Arc in the Sky," further solidifying his reputation as a composer of profound and beautiful music. The Crossing's impeccable performances bring Primosch's compositions to life, making "Carthage" a standout release in the world of contemporary classical music.
