Often ranked second only to Andrés Segovia, Yepes' career was marked by his exceptional technique and his invention of the ten-string guitar, which he premiered with the Berlin Philharmonic in 1964. His rendition of Rodrigo's "Concierto de Aranjuez" became legendary, earning him international acclaim and a devoted following. Beyond his performances, Yepes was a scholar who rediscovered and transcribed numerous works, including lute pieces by Bach.
