      Album Details

Immerse yourself in the poignant and resonant compositions of the Nash Ensemble with their album "Brundibár: Music by Composers in Theresienstadt." Released on January 27, 2013, under the Hyperion label, this collection of chamber music offers a profound exploration of works created under the harrowing conditions of the Theresienstadt concentration camp during World War II.

The album features a diverse array of pieces, including the complete suite from the children's opera "Brundibár" by Hans Krása, string quartets by Gideon Klein and Viktor Ullmann, and a string trio by Ullmann. Each composition is a testament to the enduring power of music as a form of resistance and hope in the face of adversity.

The Nash Ensemble, renowned for their precision and expressive depth, brings these works to life with a sensitivity that honors the historical context and artistic integrity of the music. The album spans a duration of 1 hour and 14 minutes, providing a comprehensive journey through the emotional and historical landscapes of these compositions.

From the lively and energetic movements of the "Brundibár" suite to the introspective and melancholic passages of the string quartets, the album offers a rich tapestry of musical expression. The Nash Ensemble's performance is a tribute to the composers who created these works under unimaginable circumstances, ensuring that their voices and their stories are not forgotten.

"Brundibár: Music by Composers in Theresienstadt" is a compelling and thought-provoking collection that invites listeners to engage with the music on a deeper level, appreciating both its historical significance and its enduring artistic value.
