      Ruby Braff, born Reuben Braff in Boston on March 16, 1927, was a distinctive and accomplished jazz trumpeter and cornetist whose career spanned over five decades. Known for his expressive swing style, Braff stood out during the bebop era by maintaining a traditional jazz sound, eventually establishing himself as a major figure in mainstream jazz. His prolific career included collaborations with veteran jazz musicians and numerous recordings that showcase his exceptional talent. Braff's unique and recognizable sound continues to captivate jazz enthusiasts, making him a beloved figure in the genre. He passed away on February 9, 2003, leaving behind a rich legacy of jazz music.
