      Album Details

Immerse yourself in the rich tapestry of chamber music with Boris Blacher's "Kammermusik," a captivating collection released in 1994 by Thorofon Records. This album showcases the diverse and innovative compositions of Boris Blacher, a German composer born in China, who left an indelible mark on the 20th-century music scene with his works spanning chamber, film, and electronic music.

"Kammermusik" is a testament to Blacher's versatility and mastery, featuring a variety of ensembles and moods. The album opens with the lively and intricate "Divertimento für Trompete, Posaune und Klavier," a six-movement work that highlights the dynamic interplay between trumpet, trombone, and piano. The "Streichquartett Nr. 2" follows, offering a more introspective journey through its two movements, Andante - Allegro and Sostenuto - Vivace.

The album continues to delight with the playful "Divertimento für vier Holzbläser," a two-movement piece for woodwind quartet, and the expansive "Oktett für Klarinette, Horn, Fagott und Streichquartett," a four-movement work that combines the richness of clarinet, horn, bassoon, and string quartet. The "Sonate für zwei Violoncelli" provides a deeply expressive dialogue between two cellos, while the "Duo für Flöte und Klavier" rounds out the collection with its elegant and varied movements.

Performed by members of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, this album is a celebration of Blacher's unique voice and the exquisite artistry of the musicians. With a total duration of 1 hour and 3 minutes, "Kammermusik" is a compelling exploration of Blacher's contributions to the chamber music repertoire, offering a blend of technical brilliance and emotional depth that is sure to resonate with both seasoned enthusiasts and newcomers alike.
