      Album Details

Immerse yourself in the captivating world of Boris Blacher's "Die drei Klavierkonzert," a remarkable collection of piano concertos that showcases the composer's unique musical vision. Released in 1992 on Thorofon Records, this album features the Philharmonica Pomorska and the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Horst Göbel, delivering a powerful and nuanced performance that spans 55 minutes.

The album presents three piano concertos, each offering a distinct journey through Blacher's compositional style. The first concerto opens with a dramatic "Adagio - Presto" movement, setting the stage for an intense and engaging musical experience. The second concerto introduces a more contemplative mood with its "Andante - Allegro - Tempo I" opening, before building to a thrilling climax. The third concerto is a tour-de-force, with its "Molto vivace - Andante - Tempo I" structure showcasing the pianist's virtuosity and the orchestra's dynamic range.

In addition to the three concertos, the album also includes "Variationen über ein Thema von Muzio Clementi," a set of variations that demonstrates Blacher's ability to reimagine and reinterpret classical themes. This piece serves as a fitting conclusion to an album that is both challenging and rewarding, offering a glimpse into the mind of one of the most innovative composers of the 20th century.

Boris Blacher, a German-Baltic composer, studied musicology in Berlin and later became a teacher at the Dresden Conservatory. His work is known for its complexity and originality, and "Die drei Klavierkonzert" is no exception. This album is a testament to Blacher's enduring legacy and a must-listen for anyone interested in exploring the rich tapestry of classical music.
