      Bohemian Tales - Augustin Hadelich

      Album Details

Augustin Hadelich's "Bohemian Tales" is a captivating exploration of Czech musical heritage, released under the Warner Classics label in 2020. This album is a testament to Hadelich's virtuosity and his deep connection with the romantic and modern classical genres. Spanning 14 tracks and a duration of 1 hour and 21 minutes, the album features a rich tapestry of compositions by Dvořák, Janáček, and Suk, alongside Hadelich's own transcriptions and arrangements.

Hadelich's interpretation of Dvořák's Violin Concerto in A Minor is particularly noteworthy, transforming the conventionally structured concerto into a tone poem that resonates with passionate, turbulent emotions. The album also includes the enchanting "Songs My Mother Taught Me" from Dvořák's 7 Gypsy Songs, arranged by Hadelich himself, and the lively dances characteristic of Czech folk music.

The Janáček Violin Sonata is another highlight, with Hadelich delivering a full-throated and impassioned performance, expertly accompanied by Charles Owen. The album concludes with Suk's 4 Pieces, Op. 17, offering a diverse range of moods from the quasi-ballata to the burleska.

"Bohemian Tales" is not just a collection of pieces but a journey through the landscapes of Czech music, showcasing Hadelich's technical prowess and emotional depth. Whether you're a seasoned classical enthusiast or a newcomer to the genre, this album promises an immensely enjoyable listening experience.
