      Album Details

Immerse yourself in the captivating world of Boris Blacher, a German composer whose works bridge the gap between traditional and modern classical music. This album, released on January 1, 1998, by Ondine, is a testament to Blacher's versatility and innovation, offering a diverse collection of pieces that showcase his unique compositional style.

The album opens with "Concertante Musik, Op. 10," a three-movement work that highlights Blacher's ability to blend orchestral and solo elements seamlessly. The "Furstin Tarakanowa Suite, Op. 19a," follows, a dramatic and evocative suite inspired by the life of the Russian princess and pretender to the throne, Princess Tarakanova. This suite is a journey through various moods and atmospheres, from the grand "Ouverture" to the playful "Marsch."

Blacher's "2 Inventions, Op. 46," are brief yet engaging pieces that demonstrate his mastery of form and structure. "Music for Cleveland, Op. 53," is a lively and rhythmic work that showcases Blacher's ability to create music that is both intellectually stimulating and deeply enjoyable.

The album concludes with the "Clarinet Concerto," a beautiful and expressive work that highlights the clarinet's lyrical and technical capabilities. This concerto is a perfect example of Blacher's ability to write music that is both accessible and profound.

With a total duration of 1 hour and 3 minutes, this album is a perfect introduction to the music of Boris Blacher. Whether you are a seasoned classical music enthusiast or a newcomer to the genre, this album is sure to captivate and inspire you.
