Become The Other - Ozric Tentacles

      Album Details

Dive into the cosmic soundscape of Ozric Tentacles' sixth studio album, "Become The Other," released in 1995. This album marks a significant chapter in the band's discography, as it is the first to feature the talents of Rad (Conrad Prince) and Seaweed (Christopher Lenox-Smith), who joined after the departure of Merv Pepler and Joie Hinton. The album is a testament to the band's signature blend of space rock, progressive rock, psychedelic rock, krautrock, and acid rock, all wrapped into a 54-minute journey of sonic exploration.

"Become The Other" kicks off with "Cat DNA," a track that immediately immerses the listener in the band's unique sonic universe. The album then flows through a series of tracks that showcase Ozric Tentacles' mastery of ambient textures, virtuoso guitar work, cosmic synths, and potent rhythms. Standout tracks like "Ghedengi" and "Vibuthi" highlight the band's ability to create intricate, layered soundscapes that are both hypnotic and invigorating. The title track, "Become The Other," starts with a reggae-inspired vibe before settling into a smooth, calming atmosphere that is quintessentially Ozric Tentacles.

The album's release on Snapper Classics further solidifies its place in the band's discography, offering fans a chance to experience the evolution of Ozric Tentacles' sound. Whether you're a long-time fan or new to the band's music, "Become The Other" is an essential addition to any collection of progressive and psychedelic rock.

      About Ozric Tentacles

Ozric Tentacles, hailing from Somerset, England, are a pioneering instrumental rock band that have been weaving their sonic tapestry since 1983. Born from the counterculture of the Stonehenge Free Festival, their music is a kaleidoscopic blend of psychedelic rock, progressive rock, space rock, and a myriad of other genres, creating a unique sound that transcends conventional boundaries. With over 30 albums released and a million copies sold worldwide, Ozric Tentacles have never been confined by major labels, instead forging their own path through handmade cassette releases and a dedicated fan club. Fronted by the ever-present guitarist Ed Wynne, the band has been a cornerstone of the UK festival scene, particularly at Glastonbury, and their influence can still be felt today. Their discography, from "Erpland" to "Spirals in Hyperspace," is a journey through soundscapes that are as vast and varied as the cosmos itself.
