      Album Details

Immerse yourself in the timeless brilliance of Béla Bartók with this captivating album, set to release on September 26, 2025, under the CAvi-music label. This collection showcases Bartók's mastery of classical and neoclassical compositions, featuring two of his most celebrated works: the Piano Quintet in C Major, Sz. 23, and Contrasts for Clarinet, Violin & Piano, Sz. 111.

The Piano Quintet in C Major is a four-movement masterpiece that begins with a serene Andante, followed by a lively Vivace (Scherzando). The third movement, Adagio, offers a moment of profound reflection, leading into the final movement, Poco a poco più vivace, which builds to a thrilling climax. This quintet is a testament to Bartók's ability to blend traditional forms with innovative harmonies and rhythms.

Contrasts for Clarinet, Violin & Piano is a trio of pieces that highlight Bartók's distinctive style. The first movement, Verbunkos, is a rhythmic and energetic piece inspired by Hungarian folk music. The second movement, Pihenö, provides a contrasting, serene interlude, while the final movement, Sebes, concludes the trio with a fast-paced, virtuosic display.

Spanning 58 minutes, this album is a must-listen for both longtime admirers of Bartók's work and those new to his compositions. It's a perfect blend of technical brilliance and emotional depth, showcasing the genius of one of the 20th century's most influential composers.

      About Béla Bartók

Béla Bartók, born in 1881 in Nagyszentmiklós, Hungary, was a towering figure in 20th-century music, renowned as a composer, pianist, and ethnomusicologist. His deep connection to Hungarian and Central European folk music infused his compositions with a unique and captivating flavor, making him one of Hungary's greatest composers alongside Franz Liszt. Bartók's prodigious talent was evident from a young age; by four, he could play forty tunes on the piano, and by five, he began formal piano lessons with his mother. His musical journey took him from his early studies in Pozsony to becoming a distinguished teacher at the Zeneakadémia. Bartók's extensive work in collecting and studying folk music from across Central Europe enriched his compositions, which span orchestral works, string quartets, piano solos, and vocal settings of folk songs. His legacy endures as one of the most significant contributors to classical and neoclassical music, celebrated for his innovative approach and deep cultural roots. Bartók passed away in New York in 1945, leaving behind a rich musical heritage that continues to inspire and enchant audiences worldwide.
