"Ashkenazy Plays": Bach, Mozart & Beethoven - Vladimir Ashkenazy

      Album Details

Vladimir Ashkenazy, the renowned pianist and conductor, presents a captivating compilation of masterpieces by three of the most influential composers in classical music history: Johann Sebastian Bach, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, and Ludwig van Beethoven. "Ashkenazy Plays: Bach, Mozart & Beethoven" is set to release on February 21, 2025, under the label UME - Global Clearing House.

This album is a testament to Ashkenazy's extraordinary skill and versatility, featuring a diverse range of compositions that span various genres within classical music, including classical piano, chamber music, and orchestral works. The album spans an impressive 1 hour and 37 minutes, comprising 80 tracks that showcase the depth and breadth of Ashkenazy's musical prowess.

The album begins with a selection of Bach's timeless works, including pieces from "Das Wohltemperierte Klavier" (The Well-Tempered Clavier), "French Suite No. 4," and "Partita No. 3." Ashkenazy's interpretation of these Baroque masterpieces is marked by precision, clarity, and a deep understanding of the musical structures.

The second part of the album is dedicated to Mozart's piano sonatas, specifically the Piano Sonata No. 14 in C Minor, K. 457, and Piano Sonata No. 17 in B-Flat Major, K. 570. Ashkenazy's playing is characterized by its elegance, sensitivity, and technical brilliance, bringing out the emotional depth and complexity of Mozart's compositions.

The final section of the album features Beethoven's monumental "33 Variations on a Waltz by Anton Diabelli," Op. 120. This set of variations is a tour de force for the pianist, showcasing Ashkenazy's ability to navigate the intricate and varied demands of each variation with finesse and virtuosity.

Throughout the album, Ashkenazy's playing is marked by a profound musicality and a deep respect for the composers' intentions. His interpretations are both intellectually rigorous and emotionally resonant, offering listeners a fresh and insightful perspective on these beloved works.

"Ashkenazy Plays: Bach, Mozart & Beethoven" is not just a collection of individual pieces but a cohesive musical journey that highlights the enduring power and beauty of classical music. Whether you are a seasoned classical music enthusiast or a newcomer to the genre, this album is sure to captivate and inspire.
