      Album Details

Dive into the enchanting world of Florencio Asenjo with "Glimpses," a captivating album that showcases the composer's unique vision and mastery of orchestral and chamber music. Released in 2012 on Albany Records, this album is a testament to Asenjo's ability to weave intricate narratives through sound, drawing inspiration from the works of literary giants Lord Dunsany and Jorge Luis Borges.

The album opens with "A Diptych of Lord Dunsany's Tales," a two-part suite that brings to life the fantastical worlds and timeless themes of the Irish writer's short stories. The Bulgarian Philharmonic Orchestra, under the baton of Kirk Trevor, delivers a powerful and evocative performance that transports the listener to realms of myth and magic.

Following this, the "Concerto for Orchestra" demonstrates Asenjo's skill in crafting dynamic and engaging compositions for full orchestra. The three-movement work is a journey through contrasting moods and textures, showcasing the orchestra's versatility and the composer's keen ear for orchestration.

The album concludes with "Glimpses at Borges Universe - Three Impressions for Violin and Orchestra," featuring the virtuosic violin playing of Mario Filipov. This trio of pieces delves into the labyrinthine themes and philosophical depths of Borges' writing, with each movement offering a unique perspective on the Argentine author's complex and thought-provoking works.

Recorded in Sofia, Bulgaria, in May 2012, "Glimpses" is a stunning showcase of Florencio Asenjo's compositional prowess and his ability to draw inspiration from the literary world. With its engaging performances and high production values, this album is a standout release in Asenjo's discography and a testament to his enduring artistic vision.
