      Album Details

Immerse yourself in the sacred choral works of Samuel Sebastian Wesley with this exquisite collection, "Ascribe Unto the Lord." Released in 2013, this album is a testament to Wesley's mastery of choral composition, featuring a blend of anthems, services, and organ pieces that showcase his unique voice within the Anglican choral tradition. The album spans a duration of 1 hour and 17 minutes, offering a comprehensive exploration of Wesley's sacred music.

The tracklist includes a variety of pieces, from the grand anthem "Ascribe unto the Lord," which features a choral recitative and a verse section in waltz time, to the serene "Morning and Evening Service in E Major." The album also features the evocative "The wilderness and the solitary place," a multi-movement work that paints a vivid musical landscape. Additionally, the album includes organ works such as "Three Pieces for Chamber Organ, Book II: No. 2. Larghetto in F-Sharp Minor," providing a contrast to the choral pieces.

Performed by the Choir of St. John's College, Cambridge under the direction of Andrew Nethsingha, this recording captures the richness and depth of Wesley's compositions. The album is a beautiful representation of Wesley's contributions to sacred choral music, making it a valuable addition to any classical music collection. Whether you are a fan of choral music or simply appreciate the beauty of sacred compositions, this album offers a profound and enriching listening experience.
