      Album Details

Immerse yourself in the rich tapestry of Baroque music with Antonio Caldara's "Missa Dolorosa," a masterful composition that showcases the composer's deep understanding of sacred music. Released on March 1, 2004, this album is a testament to Caldara's enduring legacy, featuring his renowned "Missa Dolorosa" alongside the "Laudate pueri Dominum" and "Mass in G." Composed in 1735, just two years before his passing, the "Missa Dolorosa" is a poignant and intricate work that highlights Caldara's mastery of the choral form.

The album spans a full hour, offering a comprehensive exploration of Caldara's musical genius. The "Missa Dolorosa" itself is a meticulously crafted piece, with each section—from the solemn "Kyrie" to the triumphant "Gloria" and the reflective "Credo"—demonstrating Caldara's ability to evoke a range of moods and emotions. The "Laudate pueri Dominum" adds a layer of joyous celebration, while the "Mass in G" provides a contrasting yet complementary experience.

Recorded by Studio SM, this album benefits from high-quality production that brings out the best in Caldara's compositions. The performances are impeccable, with the choirs and ensembles delivering each note with precision and passion. Whether you are a seasoned fan of Baroque music or a newcomer to the genre, "Missa Dolorosa" offers a captivating journey through one of the most significant periods in Western music history.
