      Album Details

Immerse yourself in the timeless brilliance of Béla Bartók with the release of "Ančerl Gold Edition 22. Bartók: Violin Concerto No. 2, Piano Concerto No. 3." This exquisite collection, released on September 15, 2023, by SUPRAPHON a.s., showcases Bartók's mastery of classical and neoclassical compositions, featuring his Violin Concerto No. 2 and Piano Concerto No. 3. The album spans a captivating 62 minutes, divided into six tracks that highlight Bartók's intricate and evocative musical storytelling.

Karel Ančerl, a renowned conductor, brings Bartók's works to life with a performance that is both technically precise and deeply expressive. The Violin Concerto No. 2, Sz. 112, is a three-movement piece that begins with an "Allegro non troppo," followed by an "Andante tranquillo" that seamlessly transitions into a lively "Allegro scherzando," and concludes with an "Allegro molto." The Piano Concerto No. 3, Sz. 119, equally captivates with its "Allegretto" opening, a serene "Adagio religioso," and a dynamic "Allegro vivace."

Bartók, a prodigy from an early age, began his musical journey with piano lessons from his mother and gave his first public recital at just eleven years old. His compositions, including the works featured in this album, reflect his deep understanding of both traditional and modern musical forms. This album is a testament to Bartók's enduring legacy and Ančerl's exceptional interpretation, offering a rich and immersive listening experience for classical music enthusiasts.

      About Béla Bartók

Béla Bartók, born in 1881 in Nagyszentmiklós, Hungary, was a towering figure in 20th-century music, renowned as a composer, pianist, and ethnomusicologist. His deep connection to Hungarian and Central European folk music infused his compositions with a unique and captivating flavor, making him one of Hungary's greatest composers alongside Franz Liszt. Bartók's prodigious talent was evident from a young age; by four, he could play forty tunes on the piano, and by five, he began formal piano lessons with his mother. His musical journey took him from his early studies in Pozsony to becoming a distinguished teacher at the Zeneakadémia. Bartók's extensive work in collecting and studying folk music from across Central Europe enriched his compositions, which span orchestral works, string quartets, piano solos, and vocal settings of folk songs. His legacy endures as one of the most significant contributors to classical and neoclassical music, celebrated for his innovative approach and deep cultural roots. Bartók passed away in New York in 1945, leaving behind a rich musical heritage that continues to inspire and enchant audiences worldwide.
