      Album Details

Erica Morini's "An Italian Baroque Violin Recital" is a captivating journey through the rich tapestry of Italian Baroque music, released in 1965 under the prestigious Deutsche Grammophon label. This 41-minute album showcases Morini's virtuosity and deep connection with the violin, accompanied by Leon Pommers. The collection features works by renowned composers such as Antonio Vivaldi, Giuseppe Tartini, Domenico Gallo, and Pietro Nardini, offering a diverse and enchanting exploration of the Baroque period.

The album begins with Vivaldi's Violin Sonata in D Major, RV 10, a piece that highlights Morini's technical prowess and expressive range. The sonata's four movements, from the lively Allegro to the serene Adagio, demonstrate Morini's ability to convey a wide spectrum of emotions through her playing. The Violin Sonata in G Minor, B. g10 "Didone abbandonata," adds a dramatic flair with its Affettuoso and Presto movements, showcasing Morini's dynamic control and emotional depth.

Morini's interpretations of works by Nardini, Tartini, and Pergolesi further enrich the album, each piece revealing her nuanced understanding of Baroque style and form. The Sonata No. 1 in G Major and Violin Sonata No. 2 in D Major by Nardini are particularly noteworthy, with Morini's delicate phrasing and precise articulation bringing these compositions to life.
