      Album Details

Composed during the early days of the 2020 pandemic, Richard Danielpour's "An American Mosaic" is a profound and introspective piano work that captures the essence of a nation grappling with unprecedented challenges. Inspired by the solace found in Simone Dinnerstein's recordings of J. S. Bach, Danielpour weaves a tapestry of emotions, blending the timeless gestures of Bach with contemporary expressions of communal isolation, anger, fear, grief, beauty, heroism, and frustration.

This expansive piece, commissioned by the Oregon Bach Festival, is divided into several movements, each titled to reflect the diverse roles and experiences of Americans during the pandemic. From "Caretakers & Research Physicians" to "Prophets & Martyrs," Danielpour's composition is a poignant reflection on the collective human experience. The album also includes three Bach transcriptions, adding a layer of historical resonance to the contemporary narrative.

"An American Mosaic" is a testament to the power of music to heal and connect. Richard Danielpour's masterful composition, performed by the esteemed pianist Simone Dinnerstein, offers a deeply moving exploration of the human condition, making it a significant addition to any music lover's collection. Released on March 26, 2021, by Supertrain Records, this album is a timeless piece that resonates with the spirit of resilience and hope.
