      Album Details

Dive into the rich and diverse musical landscape of José Antônio de Almeida Prado, one of Brazil's most prolific and creative composers of the 20th century, with the album "Works for Violin and Cello." Released on January 12, 2024, by Naxos, this collection showcases Prado's unique blend of traditional and modern influences, offering a captivating journey through his compositions for violin and cello.

The album features 23 tracks, spanning approximately 57 minutes, and includes a variety of pieces that highlight Prado's individuality and creativity. The standout work, "Le livre magique de Xangô," is a multi-movement suite that draws inspiration from Brazilian folklore and spirituality. It opens with a single, repeated note, gradually building into a rich tapestry of sound that showcases Prado's ability to create depth and complexity from simple elements.

Other notable works include "Das Cirandas," a set of three movements that evoke the playful, circular dances of Brazilian children, and "As quatro estações," a quartet of pieces that capture the essence of each season. The album also features "Sonata for Solo Violin," a five-movement work that demonstrates Prado's mastery of the instrument and his ability to create intricate, engaging compositions.

Performed by Emmanuele Baldini and Rafael Cesario, this album is a testament to Prado's enduring legacy and his ability to create music that is both deeply rooted in Brazilian culture and universally appealing. Whether you're a fan of classical music or simply looking to explore the rich musical traditions of Brazil, "Works for Violin and Cello" is an essential addition to your collection.
