      Album Details

Immerse yourself in the captivating world of Swedish composer Hugo Alfvén with his compelling album "Symphony No. 1, Drapa & Midsomvarka." Released in 2018 under the CPO label, this collection showcases Alfvén's mastery of classical music, blending modern styles with timeless elegance. The album features the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin, conducted by Łukasz Borowicz, delivering a powerful and nuanced performance.

The centerpiece of the album is Alfvén's Symphony No. 1 in F Minor, Op. 7, a four-movement masterpiece that ranges from the intense and dramatic "Grave. Allegro con brio" to the lively and playful "Allegro molto scherzando." This symphony is a testament to Alfvén's ability to evoke a wide range of emotions through his music.

In addition to the symphony, the album includes two notable works: "Drapa, Op. 27" and "Midsommarvaka, Op. 19." "Drapa" is inspired by Icelandic laudatory poems, featuring a prominent solo harp that adds a unique texture to the piece. "Midsommarvaka," or "Midsummer Vigil," captures the essence of a Swedish Midsummer's Eve, with its lively and festive melodies.

With a total duration of 1 hour and 3 minutes, this album offers a rich and immersive listening experience. Whether you're a seasoned classical music enthusiast or a newcomer to the genre, Hugo Alfvén's "Symphony No. 1, Drapa & Midsomvarka" is sure to leave a lasting impression.
