      Album Details

Immerse yourself in the rich musical tapestry of Hugo Alfvén's "Dala Rhapsody - Symphony No. 3," a captivating collection of works performed by the esteemed Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Neeme Järvi. Released on the BIS label in July 2013, this album offers a comprehensive journey through Alfvén's evocative compositions, spanning a total of 1 hour and 18 minutes.

The album opens with the vibrant "Dalarapsodi" (Dalecarlian Rhapsody), Op. 47, a piece that showcases Alfvén's mastery of blending traditional Swedish folk melodies with orchestral grandeur. Following this is the "Swedish Rhapsody No. 3," a work that further exemplifies Alfvén's ability to capture the essence of Swedish musical heritage.

The centerpiece of the album is Alfvén's Symphony No. 3 in E Major, Op. 23, a four-movement symphony that is both lyrical and dramatic. Each movement, from the energetic "Allegro con brio" to the serene "Andante," offers a unique glimpse into Alfvén's compositional prowess.

The album concludes with the "Den forlorade sonen" (The Prodigal Son) Suite, a seven-part suite that draws from Swedish folksongs and ballet music. This suite is a testament to Alfvén's versatility and his deep connection to Swedish musical traditions.

Whether you are a longtime admirer of Hugo Alfvén or a newcomer to his music, this album provides a rich and rewarding listening experience. The Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra's performance, coupled with Neeme Järvi's insightful conducting, brings Alfvén's compositions to life with clarity and passion.
