      Album Details

Dive into the sonic garden of Swiss percussionist Lucas Niggli with his captivating album "Alchemia Garden," released on Intakt Records in March 2018. This free jazz and avant-garde masterpiece is a testament to Niggli's virtuosic skill and imaginative spirit, recorded over four days in September 2017 at the serene Villa am Aabach in Uster, Switzerland.

"Alchemia Garden" is a lush exploration of sound, featuring thirteen tracks that bloom with improvisational brilliance. Each piece, from the enchanting "Flora Glow" to the mysterious "Hydnora," showcases Niggli's extensive instrumentarium and his ability to coax unique textures and rhythms from his percussion setup. The album is a journey through a garden of sonic delights, where each plant represents a different sonic landscape, from the delicate "Mimosa" to the robust "Booloobali."

Niggli's playing is both precise and organic, reflecting the album's theme of nature and growth. The title "Alchemia Garden" suggests a space where new sounds and ideas are cultivated, much like an alchemist's garden where ordinary elements are transformed into something extraordinary. The album's duration of 47 minutes offers a satisfying exploration of Niggli's creative process, making it a rewarding listen for fans of free improvisation and innovative jazz.

"Alchemia Garden" is not just an album; it's an experience. It invites you to explore the boundaries of percussion and improvisation, to discover the beauty in the unexpected, and to appreciate the artistry of Lucas Niggli. Whether you're a seasoned jazz enthusiast or a curious newcomer, this album promises a rich and engaging journey into the world of contemporary percussion.
