      Album Details

Dive into the captivating world of contemporary classical music with Thomas Adès' "Adès: Asyla, Tevot, Polaris," a compelling album released in 2017 under the LSO Live label. This collection showcases Adès' extraordinary compositional prowess, featuring four powerful movements from his orchestral work "Asyla," the enigmatic "Tevot," and the mesmerizing "Polaris."

The album opens with "Asyla, Op. 17," a four-movement piece that takes the audience on a journey through a range of emotions and musical landscapes. From the intense and dramatic "First Movement" to the ecstatic "Ecstasio," Adès masterfully crafts a symphonic experience that is both intellectually stimulating and deeply moving.

The centerpiece of the album is "Tevot," a single-movement work that Adès composed for the Berlin Philharmonic in 2007. This enigmatic piece is a testament to Adès' ability to create music that is both complex and accessible, drawing the audience in with its rich harmonies and intricate rhythms.

The album concludes with "Polaris," a voyage for orchestra that is as visually evocative as it is musically engaging. Inspired by the North Star, this piece is a testament to Adès' ability to create music that transcends the boundaries of the concert hall and reaches for the stars.

Throughout the album, Adès is joined by the London Symphony Orchestra, one of the world's most renowned ensembles. Under Adès' own baton, the orchestra delivers a performance that is both technically impressive and deeply expressive, bringing Adès' music to life with a level of artistry and precision that is truly remarkable.

With a total runtime of just over an hour, "Adès: Asyla, Tevot, Polaris" is a testament to the power of contemporary classical music to captivate, challenge, and inspire. Whether you are a seasoned classical music enthusiast or a newcomer to the genre, this album is sure to leave a lasting impression.
