      A Tribute - Régine Crespin

      Album Details

Immerse yourself in the extraordinary vocal artistry of Régine Crespin with this comprehensive tribute album, released on Warner Classics in 2017. Spanning nearly five hours, this collection showcases the incredible range and versatility of one of the most celebrated sopranos of her time. Crespin's mastery of French, German, and Italian repertoire is evident throughout, as she navigates a diverse array of arias and songs from some of the most beloved operas and composers in classical music history.

From the dramatic intensity of Verdi's "Mia madre aveva" from Otello to the ethereal beauty of Wagner's "Dich, teure Halle" from Tannhäuser, Crespin's performances are marked by their technical precision, emotional depth, and lyrical elegance. The album also features lesser-known gems, such as Gounod's "Plus grand dans son obscurité" from La reine de Saba and Reyer's "Salut, splendeur du jour" from Sigurd, demonstrating Crespin's ability to bring nuance and depth to every role she undertook.

Accompanied by renowned orchestras and conductors, including the Orchestra of the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, and Sir Edward Downes, this tribute album is a testament to Crespin's enduring legacy. Whether you're a longtime admirer of her work or a newcomer to the world of opera, this collection offers a captivating journey through the extraordinary career of one of the most inimitable voices of the 20th century.
