      About Lennart Aberg

      Lennart Åberg was a pioneering Swedish jazz saxophonist and composer, born in Helsingborg in 1942. He is best known for founding the innovative jazz fusion group Rena Rama in 1972, blending genres and pushing musical boundaries. Throughout his career, Åberg collaborated with renowned artists such as George Russell, appearing on notable recordings like "The Essence of George Russell." His musical explorations extended beyond jazz, incorporating influences from India, Africa, and Eastern Europe, as well as contemporary music. Åberg's contributions to jazz were recognized with the prestigious Djangodor award in 2002. In addition to his performing career, he shared his knowledge as a teacher of jazz history at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm. Lennart Åberg's legacy continues to inspire, showcasing his versatility and deep musical insight.
