      Album Details

Depeche Mode's iconic live album, 101, is a masterclass in capturing the essence of a phenomenal performance. Released on 13 March 1989, this double album chronicles the final leg of their groundbreaking Music for the Masses Tour, culminating in a spectacular show at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California on 18 June 1988.

This seminal recording showcases Depeche Mode's unique blend of new wave, synthpop, and darkwave genres, featuring an array of fan favourites, including 'Strangelove', 'Behind the Wheel', and 'Everything Counts'. The album's title, conceived by band member Alan Wilder, commemorates the 101st and final concert of their massive world tour.

The accompanying documentary film, directed by D.A. Pennebaker, offers a fascinating glimpse into the band's preparation for the Rose Bowl show, as well as the journey of a group of devoted fans who won a contest to travel to the concert on a bus. This live album is a testament to Depeche Mode's captivating stage presence and their ability to craft an unforgettable experience for their audience.

With a duration of 1 hour and 35 minutes, 101 is an immersive and engaging listen, transporting fans back to the electric atmosphere of that summer evening in 1988. As a live album, it is a rare gem, distilling the magic of Depeche Mode's performance into a lasting tribute to their Music for the Masses Tour.
